Piggy Bank

I have never seen a child who loves money as much as Mikayla. She has even emptied my wallet and Angela's wallet for change! Even when there is NO MORE, she says "more money!" She is very persistent too.

We went to visit family in Haynesville just for the day today and Mikayla was exhausted, so on the way home Mikayla took a nap with her piggy bank. This piggy bank is our 3rd- she broke the other two- one ceramic and one plastic! This new piggy is actually made by Fisher Price, so hopefully this piggy will last a while.

Elmo Live

I am exhausted, so I'm basically going to say that Mikayla had a BLAST at Elmo Live. We went tonight to the Centurytel Center. She was singing and dancing along with the Sesame Street characters! She got an Elmo balloon, Sesame Street T-Shirt, and Sesame Stree Live Ball. I have to admit I actually enjoyed it. Angela went with us just for an extra set of hands to keep Mikayla in certain boundaries- a dificult task. The best part of the night was seeing how happy Mikayla was!

We're Famous!

Not exactly famous, but we did make it on the Shreveport Times Website. A guy from the paper took mine and Mikayla's picture at the Mardi Gras festivities on Saturday. The picture isn't great (Mikayla isn't too happy when strangers want her to pose for a picture), but it's a picture!

Mardi Gras

Mikayla went to her first Mardi Gras parade today. It has been several years since I’ve been. A friend from work invited me, and it actually ended up being a huge group of people there from my school. We had a GREAT time. Of course I was a nervous wreck trying to keep up with Mikayla, but it is something I’ll never forget. She even had some King Cake for the first time and absolutely LOVED it! As you can tell from the pictures she figured out how to get the people to give her beads. There were people on the floats pointing for us to come up there so they could hand her something- she even got a little teddy bear!

Under the Weather

Mikayla is now with Mimi and Pop. They met us last night in Minden to get her. I think she has a stomach bug. I don't normally pass her off when she's sick, but this week is not a good week to get a sub. I have to give a Mastery test to my students. Hopefully Mimi got sleep last night, and hopefully Mikayla won't get sick again!

The New Family

You may see more pictures of me on here with Mikayla. I don't mind having my picture taken as much now. I've lost a little over 30 lbs.! I still have a lot to go, but it's a start!

A New Family Member

I wanted to give a little update....We now have a puppy. Angela decided on Saturday that Mikayla needed a puppy at our house. The dog is a 6 week old Chihuahua. Her name is Pinky. Mikayla liked the name "Pinky", so "Pinky" it is. Pinky weighs a whopping 1.6 lbs. and shouldn't get any bigger than 4 lbs. The dog is so ugly she's absolutely precious. Mikayla loves her, at least until she tries to bight on any part of Mikayla. Mikayla doesn't even like it when Pinky bights at her shoes. They're so cute together. Pinky is the perfect size for Mikayla to hold. Mikayla doesn't think that Pinky is supposed to get out of her doggy bed, so she keeps putting her back in there. I'll try to put pictures on here tomorrow night after we get home from church.

As for Mikayla- I believe she becomes more spoiled rotten every day (is it even possible?)! She did well at Daycare last week in her new classroom, and she is doing great with potty training...at least at Daycare! Today she enjoyed her "Red" and "Mimi" coming for a visit. Tomorrow it's back to the daily grind!
